Hi friends welcome back to the blog with Jess. How are you enjoying the summer? I am very much enjoying some time off and have been doing lots more crafting than usual.
Today I am sharing a Travelers Notebook page I created with lots of the leftover scraps of paper I was starting to accumulate. I’ve been working in a TN that has patterned paper on one side and grid on the other and sometimes I don’t like the pattern or sentiment on the left side so I decided to create my own background by punching circles from paper I had leftover.
I used papers from Pinkfresh Studio – Just A Little Lovely and Pink Paislee – Indigo And Ivy and 2 different sized circle punches. I covered the middle sentiment with a circle die cut. It didn’t take long to punch the circles and arrange them to cover the page.
I backed the little photos with papers from my kit and added some die cuts and Pinkfresh phrase stickers.
To fill in some of the empty spaces on the page I used some of the coloured rub ons from Indigo and Ivy. I imagine the idea was to use them underneath the gold foil ones as a background but I really like them on their own, kind of like paint splodges without the mess of mixed media. Now I wish I had multiple packs of them to do this on everything. It gave the page that bit of added colour.
I loved that I was able to use up some of the scraps I had and create a background showcasing some of my favourite papers. Have you made a punched out background? Why not use up some of your leftover bits and make one too? Tag me @jess.claire.creates and @thewildharekits on Instagram, we would love to see your layouts.
