Hey friends, Amber here on the blog today to share how I created this fun heart-shaped mini album using the products from my August kit.

As a crafter, I typically lean more towards teals and pinks and bright, colorful products. But, being a firm believer in trying new things, I decided to get out of my comfort zone with my kit this month. The Indigo and Ivy collection from Pink Paislee was perfect for that seeing as how the color palette is not one I would typically be drawn to.

At first I found it challenging to work with the navys, greens and browns but after some brainstorming and trial and error I wound up creating an album I’m in love with.

To create this heart-shaped mini I started by cutting out some hearts from the 6×6 paper pad (I used my Cricut for this but a template or stencil would work just as well). I then sewed the hearts together back to back so that each side featured a pretty pattern. The next step is pretty simple; just sew through the middle of each heart (I used a zig zag stitch for extra security) one after another, leaving a little bit of thread (about half an inch) in between each individual heart. This will create a fun bunting effect that will allow you to fold the album accordion style for easy display and storage!

After that, the base is done and it is time to decorate! You can decorate both sides of each heart or just one if you plan to display it. I used the 6×12 sticker sheet, the chipboard and acetate accents, and the cutaparts from the Indigo and Ivy collection to dress mine up!

Never be afraid to step out of your crafting comfort zone! It can be worth it in the end!
