Hello friends! Amber here on the blog today to share a super fun and festive holiday decor project I created using my wonderful December Kit. My kit this month is mostly made up of bits and pieces from the Crate Paper “Snowflake” collection and the Pink Paislee “Together for Christmas” collection. Being that I love pinks and teals and yellows, I was immediately drawn towards the “Snowflake” collection and had a blast creating this adorable snowflake shaped banner with it.
To start this project off, I first used my Cricut machine to cut five chunky snowflakes. I chose to use a simple snowflake design that had a bit more width because I knew I would be stitching around them. A more intricate snowflake would have been just as, if not more, beautiful, but I’m still a beginner in regards to stitching so I wanted to save myself from any unneeded crafting stress.
After the snowflakes were cut, I very carefully machine stitched around the shape of each one with some gold thread. This process took about an hour (give or take) for all five snowflakes.
Once that was done, it was time for my favorite part–embellishing! In my kit I received the “Snowflake” ephemera pack as well as the clear sticker book. To turn the stickers into something a bit more sturdy that I could work with, I backed them all with white cardstock and then fussy cut them out. This gave me so many extra pieces to work with.
Now, I love a good chunky, dimensional project. So, to make these banner pieces pop, I added a handmade rosette to the center of each one. After that, it was all about layering different embellishments of different textures.
The last step was to add some small tabs and eyelets to the top to allow the banner to be threaded and hanged.
The end result has me feeling so festive! Christmas time is hands down my favorite time of year and I think this banner decor shows my love for it. One last tip to offer in case you decide to make a decoration like this–use A LOT of adhesive so that you can hang up your banner every year for many years to come!
Happy holidays! I’ll see you next month with another fun project!
