Hello Wild Hare Kit friends! Amber here on the blog today to share with you a fun, spring-themed banner I created using my colorful February Kit. For my kit this month, I asked for bright colors and lots of pinks, teals, and yellows to work with. And I was not disappointed! My kit was full of pinks as well as embellishments from the “Truly Grateful” collection from Pink Paislee. These items screamed spring to me and so does the finished banner! If you’d like to know how I made it, keep reading below!
To create this banner, I first created two different templates of slightly different sizes so that I could layer the smaller one on top of the larger one. This adds another layer of depth to the project. I then cut five pieces using each template. To add a bit of texture I machine stitched some white tulle onto each of the smaller layers. Then I used mounting (or foam) tape to adhere the smaller layers onto the larger ones.
The next step was embellishing. I used a mix of the cardstock stickers and floral ephemera from the “Truly Grateful” collection I received in my kit to do this. Florals are my favorite embellishment to use because you can layer, layer, and layer them which adds a ton of detail. I also pulled some wood veneers from my stash to add a new element to each piece. And using a wood veneer on each piece tied the entire project together.
To add a bit of dimension to each piece, I added either a rosette or accordion folded strip of paper, then layered embellishments on top of it. This technique helps to make things pop and stand out.
The last step was to attach some “hangers” to the top of each of piece and punch some holes in them. And now I have a new bright and fun decor piece for my craft room this spring!
Thanks for stopping by the blog today! I’ll see you next month with another fun project!
